O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful: look with favor on Your servant whom You have placed in charge of Your Church here.Help him, by Your love and Your grace, to teach us truly and to rule us wisely. Give him courage when times are difficult. Grant that his people will listen to him. May he always have the happiness of knowing that we are respectful and obedient to him, and thereby to Christ our Lord, whose representative we believe him to be. May he inspire those whose shepherd he is, by his words and example, so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
