Prayer to God to save the Church by Sanctifying His priests who have fallen away

St. John Vianney, Saint Joseph, Raleigh NC ©VP
O God, our Lord, we obey without delay
to Thy gracious invitation to pray. Encouraged by Thy desire, we worship
at your sacred feet, crying out to Thee for our guilty priests. Deign
to be reminded, Lord, that Thy priestly Body is Thy crown of
predilection, the splendor of Thy glory, the chosen part of Thy
heritage.
We implore Thee to arm Thyself with holy indignation
against Satan, who dared to plant the banner of sin in Thy own
sanctuary, and to chase him away in shame from Thy solemnly dedicated
domain.
What would it cost Thee, O Lord, to turn the most
hardened hearts into penitents? Only one simple glance at Peter was
enough to retrieve him from the abyss of a three times apostasy; would
it cost Thee more to touch and convert those who have had the misfortune
to imitate his weakness?
O Jesus, our King and Pontiff, we
beseech Thee on behalf of Mary, Thy Mother and ours, save the Church,
save Thy faithful, save Thy blessed honor, by saving priests! Amen.

Prayers to St. Dominic
My Lord Jesus Christ, Who didst found
the Church with Thy precious blood, and by the preaching of the apostles
didst establish, propagate, and extend it throughout the whole world,
and thereafter didst commission the holy patriarch Dominic to adorn,
illustrate, and defend it with the splendor of this merits and doctrine;
graciously hear the prayers which this apostolic man incessantly offers
to Thee for the increase of her treasures, both spiritual and temporal.
Pater, Ave, Gloria
Most
merciful Redeemer, Who didst choose as Thy fellow-laborer for the
salvation of souls, St. Dominic, who by his zeal, aided by Thy grace,
gained over to the Church so many heretics who had been lost to her, and
so many sinners who had grieved her by their obstinacy; send, O my God,
ever fresh laborers into Thy vineyard to work for Thy glory, and gather
in the fruits of eternal life.
Pater, Ave, Gloria.
O Good
Jesus, Who didst delight to see St. Dominic prostrate every night before
Thy altar, adoring Thee hidden in the most holy sacrament with most
lively faith, and offering up, now groans, now prayers, now penances on
behalf of the Church, at that time persecuted by her enemies and
profaned by her servants; defend this Thy Spouse through the
intercession of St. Dominic from the outrages and plots of the infernal
enemy of mankind.
Pater, Ave, Gloria.
V. Pray for us, St. Dominic.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: Grant, we beseech Thee, almighty God, that we who are
weighted down by the burden of our sins may be raised up by the
patronage of Thy blessed confessor Dominic. Through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.

Novena for Priests to St. John Vianney Day 9

Posted on Wednesday August 03, 2022 at 12:00AM in Prayers
John Vianney, Good and Holy Priest O holy Priest of Ars, you lived in an
age of much upheaval, in a time when men turned their backs on God.
Your bishop told of a parish to which he wished to send you where there
was no love. He assigned you to Ars and said that you would be the
Priest who would enable the people to know the love of God. Not only did
you draw these people back to God, but your saintly reputation soon
spread and many people were converted to a life of holiness. You said
that a good Priest, a Priest after Christʼs own heart is the greatest
treasure that God can give a parish. Give us such Priests!
O great St. John Vianney, once again we are living in day of upheaval.
There is much evil in the word.
Obtain for Father ___ the grace to persevere in his faith and never to
despair. May he walk
with the Lord and trust in Him all the days of his life. Obtain through
your heavenly intercession, for Father ___ the grace of modeling his
life after that of Jesus Christ, that his people will
know the love of God. More than ever the people need him to be able to
bring the world to Christ.
Pray for Father ___ and all Priests, O great Priest of Ars.
Novena Prayer:
O holy Priest of Ars, St. John Marie Vianney, you loved God and served
Him faithfully as
His Priest. Now you see God face to face in heaven. You never despaired
but persevered in your faith
until you died. Remember now the dangers, fears and anxieties that
surround Father ___ and intercede for him in all his needs and troubles
especially console him in his most difficult moments, grant him serenity
in the midst of crisis, and protect him from evil. O St. John Vianney, I
have confidence in your intercession.
Pray for Father ___ in a special way during this novena.

St. John Vianney, Lover of Penance and Mortification O holy Priest of
Ars, you led a life of detachment
from worldly pleasures. Your meals consisted of a boiled potato each
day; you slept a few hours each night. But you did all of this so that
you would be able to serve God to the best of your ability. Your life
was portrayed by the saying: We complain when we suffer. We have much
more reason to complain when we do not suffer, since nothing likens us
to our Lord as the bearing of His cross.
O great St. John Vianney, in these days when we are surrounded by so
many comforts and pleasures, it can be so difficult for us to do penance
for our sins and live a life of detachment. I resolve to offer
some sacrifice today for the expiation of Father ___’s sins and the sins
of all mankind. Assist Father in accepting the cross God chooses to
send him. May he embrace the life of sacrifice to which Priests are
called. May he willingly offer his whole life to God! Obtain for Father
___ the grace to imitate the life of Christ by the bearing of His cross.

O holy Priest of Ars, your life was filled with humility. You wore an
old cassock. You ate meager meals. You realized that before the throne
of God, you were one of His creatures made to glorify God and praise Him
in all things. You said that the first virtue is humility; the second,
humility; and the third, humility. You counseled people to remain
humble, remain simple and the more one is so, the more good he will do.
Your simplicity of soul and your uncluttered way of life led you to
sanctity.
O humble St. John Vianney, when Father ___ forgets he is totally
dependent on God for everything, intercede for him with Almighty God, to
allow him to see that without His Creator nothing is possible and that
he must rely on God for everything. He is his Creator, who keeps him in
existence at every moment. Obtain for Father ___ the grace of humility.
May his life exemplify your humility and simplicity, a life uncluttered,
a life totally dependent on God.
Novena Prayer:
O holy Priest of Ars, St. John Marie Vianney, you loved God and served
Him faithfully as
His Priest. Now you see God face to face in heaven. You never despaired
but persevered in your faith
until you died. Remember now the dangers, fears and anxieties that

Saint Paul, Holy Name Cathedral, Raleigh NC
"[26] For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall shew the death of the Lord, until he come. [27] Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. [28] But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of the chalice. [29] For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. [30] Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you, and many sleep. " 1st Epistle of St Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 11
Prayer
O Glorious Saint Paul, after persecuting
the Church you became by God's grace its most zealous Apostle. To carry
the knowledge of Jesus, our divine Savior, to the uttermost parts of
the earth you joyfully endured prison, scourgings, stonings, and
shipwreck, as well as all manner of persecutions culminating in the
shedding of the last drop of your blood for our Lord Jesus Christ.
May your example inspire our parish priests today to be zealous in
their service to God's people. Obtain for our priests the grace to labor
strenuously to bring the faith to others and to accept any trials and
tribulations that may come their way. Help them to be inspired by your
Epistles and to partake of your indomitable love for Jesus, so that
after they have finished their course they may join you in praising him
in heaven for all eternity. Amen.

Priest's Saturday
by VP
Posted on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 12:00AM in Prayers
"God in heaven and I on earth, we desire nothing more ardently than prayer and sacrifice for priests...
Let us beg God that He may give us holy priests! If we have this, all else will follow: but if this be wanting, all else will avail nothing."
It is something quite simple and easy, yet immeasurably great in its results. You should make it a point to offer the Saturday after the First Friday of each month to your Savior, through the hands of Mary, the great mediatrix of all graces, for the sanctification of all the priests and students for the priesthood throughout the whole world. For this purpose you should give the Saturday wholly and entirely to Him, that is to say, Holy Mass, Holy Communion, all prayers, labors, sacrifices, joys, and sorrows. Whatever you cannot do on this day (Holy Mass and Holy Communion) you ought to supply immediately on Sunday. So there is really nothing new for you to do. You merely offer up this Saturday ( or even every Saturday or some other day) for the sanctification of priests. It is not a case of any sodality or fraternity or anything like that. Like the First Friday in honor of the Sacred Heart, the Priest's Saturday seeks to become something religiously observed by all the Catholics of the world.
Concern about the holiness of priests is the concern of the Heart of the Divine Savior and of His Blessed Mother. Therefore, you should be sure to take part in this apostolate to the apostles.
Source: Priest's Saturday Pamphlet #2, Prayers and Devotions for Priest's Day. Salvatorian Fathers.Prayer:
Divine Savior, Jesus Christ, Who hast
entrusted the whole work of Thy redemption, the welfare and salvation of
the world, to priests as Thy representatives, through the hands of Thy
most holy Mother and for the sanctification of Thy priests and
candidates for the priesthood I offer Thee this present day wholly and
entirely, with all its prayers, works, sacrifices, joys, and sorrows.
Give truly holy priests who, inflamed with the fire of Thy divine love,
seek nothing but Thy greater glory and the salvation of our souls.
And thou, Mary, good Mother of priests, protect all priests in the
dangers of their holy vocation and, with the loving hand of a Mother,
also lead back to the Good Shepherd those poor priests who have become
unfaithful to their exalted vocation and have gone astray.
Queenship of Mary

"From the earliest ages of the catholic church a Christian people, whether in time of triumph or more especially in time of crisis, has addressed prayers of petition and hymns of praise and veneration to the Queen of Heaven. And never has that hope wavered which they placed in the Mother of the Divine King, Jesus Christ; nor has that faith ever failed by which we are taught that Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, reigns with a mother's solicitude over the entire world, just as she is crowned in heavenly blessedness with the glory of a Queen. (...)
47. Since we are convinced, after long and serious reflection, that great good will accrue to the Church if this solidly established truth shines forth more clearly to all, like a luminous lamp raised aloft, by Our Apostolic authority We decree and establish the feast of Mary's Queenship, which is to be celebrated every year in the whole world on the 31st of May. We likewise ordain that on the same day the consecration of the human race to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary be renewed, cherishing the hope that through such consecration a new era may begin, joyous in Christian peace and in the triumph of religion.
48 Let all, therefore, try to approach with greater trust the throne of grace and mercy of our Queen and Mother, and beg for strength in adversity, light in darkness, consolation in sorrow; above all let them strive to free themselves from the slavery of sin and offer an unceasing homage, filled with filial loyalty, to their Queenly Mother. Let her churches be thronged by the faithful, her feast-days honored; may the beads of the Rosary be in the hands of all; may Christians gather, in small numbers and large, to sing her praises in churches, in homes, in hospitals, in prisons. May Mary's name be held in highest reverence, a name sweeter than honey and more precious than jewels; may none utter blasphemous words, the sign of a defiled soul, against that name graced with such dignity and revered for its motherly goodness; let no one be so bold as to speak a syllable which lacks the respect due to her name. (...)
50. In some countries of the world there are people who are unjustly persecuted for professing their Christian faith and who are deprived of their divine and human rights to freedom; up till now reasonable demands and repeated protests have availed nothing to remove these evils. May the powerful Queen of creation, whose radiant glance banishes storms and tempests and brings back cloudless skies, look upon these her innocent and tormented children with eyes of mercy; may the Virgin, who is able to subdue violence beneath her foot, grant to them that they may soon enjoy the rightful freedom to practice their religion openly, so that, while serving the cause of the Gospel, they may also contribute to the strength and progress of nations by their harmonious cooperation, by the practice of extraordinary virtues which are a glowing example in the midst of bitter trials. A Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world.
Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.
O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.
We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home.
Amen.

Supplication to the Compassionate Heart of Mary for the Church
O Queen of Martyrs! Who hast, in every age, overthrown heresies,
stretch forth the arm of thy power against the spirit of Satan, now
unchained upon earth, and against the men of sin, who have become his
agents. Behold the impious war which they do not cease to wage against
Jesus Christ, thy Son, His Vicar, His Church, His Priests, and His
Children. See, the ruins which they have heaped around us, the waves of
blood which they have caused to flow, the countless souls which they
have perverted, and cast into hell.
O! Holy Virgin, powerful Help of Christians, we entreat thee, come to
our aid. Come quickly with the celestial army, especially the intrepid
Archangel Michael. Kindle in all hearts, especially in the hearts of
Priests, the sacred fire of most ardent zeal. Place thyself at our head,
august Mother of the God of hosts, and lead us to the battle. Sustain
us by thy prayers; encourage us by thine eye. Scatter before us these
new infernal legions, as the wind scatters the clouds. Powerful Help of
Christians, give us victory, give us triumph and peace; obtain for us a
holy life and a holy death. Amen.
Who is like to God, quis ut Deus?
Who is like to Jesus, Son of God and of Mary, quis ut Jesus?
Amen.

Novena for Priests for Pentecost (From May 28th to June 5th )

Posted on Friday May 27, 2022 at 12:00AM in Prayers
"Jesus, Good Shepherd, You sent us the
Holy Spirit to guide Your Church and lead her faithful to You through
the ministry of Your priests.
Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, grant to Your priests wisdom in leading, faithfulness in teaching,
and holiness in guarding Your sacred Mysteries.
As they cry out
with all the faithful, "Abba, Father!" may Your priests be ever more
closely identified with You in Your divine Sonship and offer their own
lives with You, the one saving Victim. Make them helpful brothers of one
another, and understanding fathers of all Your people. On this
Pentecost Sunday, renew in Your priests deeper faith, greater trust in
You, childlike reliance on our Mother Mary, and unwavering fidelity to
the Holy Father and his bishops.
Holy Mary, intercede for your priests.
St. Joseph, protect them.
St. Michael, defend them.
St. John Vianney, pray for them.
Amen."

On Other Exercises of the Love of God
"Consider first, that divine love is also exercised in the penitential way by souls that, like Magdalene, (of whom our Lord pronounced that many sins were forgiven her because she loved much,) go daily to the feet of Christ, in spirit, to wash them with their tears, flowing from a heart full of a sense of the infinite goodness of God, and of a deep regret for having offended that infinite goodness by their sins. This exercise of penitential love, as we see in the case of Magdalene, is most acceptable to out Lord, and most effectual for obtaining the discharge of all our sins; and, if diligently pursued, is capable of advancing even those that have been the greatest sinners to a high degree of virtue and sanctity. And whosoever has forfeited his baptismal innocence by mortal sin, if he would follow the rules of Christian prudence in choosing the safest way in a case where his all is at stake, should endeavor to pursue this exercise of penitential love, and never end it but with his life. Thus did all those great penitents of old who became afterwards such glorious saints. And this kind of exercise of love will become in a manner natural to all such as have a right sense of what God is and what sin is, and of the dreadful evil they have been guilty of in offending, though it were but once in their life, so great and so good a God.
Consider 2ndly, that there are also other ways of mourning in which we may exercise a love of God, most agreeable to him, and beneficial to ourselves. As when we sit down at the foot of the cross, and there contemplating the extreme anguish and distress, the stripes and wounds, the racking pains and torments of our dear Redeemer, with all that complication of sufferings in all kinds which he endured in his passion for the love of us, we excite in our souls suitable affections of an ardent love in the way of compassion for our crucified Lover, and feed this fire with tears, flowing at the sight of his blood; which, as it shows forth in the most sensible manner his tender affection for us, so it most strongly calls for a return of our love, accompanied with a bitter grief to see our beloved treated with so much cruelty and contempt. Upon the same principle of the concern that every true lover has, to see the outrages offered to his beloved, we may also exercise a love most agreeable to our Lord, in mourning for the innumerable sins that are daily committed against him throughout the whole world; to see his infinite goodness slighted, his sacred laws and ordinances trodden under foot, his mercies continually abused, and his most adorable majesty treated with the utmost contempt, by poor blind mortals, made by him, and for him redeemed by the blood of his Son, and loaded with innumerable favors, to engage them to love him and serve him. Oh! how can any true lover of God endure to see these outrages offered to his infinite majesty without having his heart perfectly broken with grief to see his Love thus abused?
Consider 3rdly, that, besides these exercises of the love of benevolence in the penitential and compassionate way, there is another most perfect exercise of love, and which comes the nearest to the love of the blessed in heaven; and that is, in the way of joy and congratulation - as when we rejoice in God and in his boundless perfections; when we are delighted to think that he is what he is, infinitely good, infinitely holy, infinitely happy, infinitely perfect; that he is the sovereign Lord of all, and that nothing can be added to him, because he is every way infinite. O, what a comfort, what a pleasure, what a joy it is to a true lover of God to think that whatsoever may come to himself, or to any other thing in the world, his Love at least, whom he loves without comparison more than himself and all things else, will always be infinitely glorious, infinitely rich, and infinitely happy! O how like is this love to that of the blessed, even to that love that makes them blessed, which is an eternal joy in God and in all the beauties and perfections they contemplate in him - this is their eternal delight.
Conclude to dedicate thyself for time and eternity to this most perfect love of God. Make it thy employment here, and it will be thy eternal reward hereafter. In the mean time, labor also to promote as much as thou canst, upon every occasion, the praise and glory of thy maker, the interests of his kingdom, the fulfilling of all his wills, as well in thyself as in all others; be concerned at every thing that displeases him, put thy heart continually in his hands, give thyself and all things else to him a hundred times in the day. Such acts as these, frequently repeated in the day, will secure to thee the rich treasure of divine love; by such exercises thou wilt effectually choose the better part, which will never be taken from thee."
