Saint Paul, Holy Name Cathedral, Raleigh NC

"[26] For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall shew the death of the Lord, until he come. [27] Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. [28] But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of the chalice. [29] For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. [30] Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you, and many sleep. " 1st Epistle of St Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 11

Prayer

O Glorious Saint Paul, after persecuting the Church you became by God's grace its most zealous Apostle. To carry the knowledge of Jesus, our divine Savior, to the uttermost parts of the earth you joyfully endured prison, scourgings, stonings, and shipwreck, as well as all manner of persecutions culminating in the shedding of the last drop of your blood for our Lord Jesus Christ.

May your example inspire our parish priests today to be zealous in their service to God's people. Obtain for our priests the grace to labor strenuously to bring the faith to others and to accept any trials and tribulations that may come their way. Help them to be inspired by your Epistles and to partake of your indomitable love for Jesus, so that after they have finished their course they may join you in praising him in heaven for all eternity. Amen.

Priest's Saturday

by VP

Posted on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 12:00AM in Prayers

"God in heaven and I on earth, we desire nothing more ardently than prayer and sacrifice for priests...

Let us beg God that He may give us holy priests! If we have this, all else will follow: but if this be wanting, all else will avail nothing."

It is something quite simple and easy, yet immeasurably great in its results. You should make it a point to offer the Saturday after the First Friday of each month to your Savior, through the hands of Mary, the great mediatrix of all graces, for the sanctification of all the priests and students for the priesthood throughout the whole world. For this purpose you should give the Saturday wholly and entirely to Him, that is to say, Holy Mass, Holy Communion, all prayers, labors, sacrifices, joys, and sorrows. Whatever you cannot do on this day (Holy Mass and Holy Communion) you ought to supply immediately on Sunday. So there is really nothing new for you to do. You merely offer up this Saturday ( or even every Saturday or some other day) for the sanctification of priests. It is not a case of any sodality or fraternity or anything like that. Like the First Friday in honor of the Sacred Heart, the Priest's Saturday seeks to become something religiously observed by all the Catholics of the world.

Concern about the holiness of priests is the concern of the Heart of the Divine Savior and of His Blessed Mother. Therefore, you should be sure to take part in this apostolate to the apostles.

Prayer:

Divine Savior, Jesus Christ, Who hast entrusted the whole work of Thy redemption, the welfare and salvation of the world, to priests as Thy representatives, through the hands of Thy most holy Mother and for the sanctification of Thy priests and candidates for the priesthood I offer Thee this present day wholly and entirely, with all its prayers, works, sacrifices, joys, and sorrows.

Give truly holy priests who, inflamed with the fire of Thy divine love, seek nothing but Thy greater glory and the salvation of our souls.

And thou, Mary, good Mother of priests, protect all priests in the dangers of their holy vocation and, with the loving hand of a Mother, also lead back to the Good Shepherd those poor priests who have become unfaithful to their exalted vocation and have gone astray.

Gratitude, Elation and Resolve at Priests for Life

TITUSVILLE, FL – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, released the following statement today regarding the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

“This is a day I’ve worked toward for 47 years and I am so grateful,” said Father Pavone. “Grateful to President Trump for appointing justices who respect both the U.S. Constitution and the sanctity of human life; grateful for the work of the pro-life movement for never losing sight of the goal, and grateful to God for allowing this day. We still have work to do but this decision will save countless lives.”

Mrs. Morana said, “I am so happy for my good friend Norma McCorvey, may she rest in peace. We promised her on the day she died that we would never stop fighting to end Roe, the tragic decision made in her name. I’m also happy to think about all the women whose lives will not be ruined by making the terrible choice for abortion. And I’m happy for the babies who will be spared a brutal death. Thank you to the Supreme Court for protecting infant life.” Source: Priests for Life

Prayer to the Sacred Heart for Priests

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Former Cathedral Raleigh

Remember, O most loving Heart of Jesus, that they for whom I pray are those for whom You prayed so earnestly the night before Your death. These are they to whom You look to continue with You in Your sorrows when others forsake You, who share Your griefs and have inherited your persecutions, according to Your word: That the servant is not greater than his Lord.

Remember, O Heart of Jesus, that they are the objects of the world's hatred and Satan's deadliest snares. Keep them then, O Jesus, in the safe citadel of Your Sacred Heart and there let them be sanctified in truth.

May they be one with you and one among themselves, and grant that multitudes may be brought through their word to believe in You and love You. Amen.

To the Sacred Heart

To the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Thine excessive love for men, in order to redeem souls and save them for heaven, Thou didst shed Thy Precious Blood. With all the fervor of our hearts we beg of Thee to accompany with Thy blessing and Thy grace the labors of priests for the salvation of souls. Grant that with all zeal they may preach Thy sacred doctrine, that they may move to repentance the hearts of sinners, that they may strengthen the good in virtue.

Keep far from our congregation the assaults of the evil one; ward off all scandal and seduction, enmities and envy, uncharitable and bad example. Let Thy love and Thy grace abide in all hearts, that we may strive with great fervor to reach our eternal goal, to avoid sin, to practice virtue, and to encourage each other by a devout life, so that in the everlasting happiness of heaven above we may rejoice in union with Thee. Amen.

O Divine Heart of Jesus, convert sinners, save the dying, deliver the holy souls in purgatory.
